Congratulations to Jackie Maciukiewicz

Congratulations are in order for Jackie Maciukiewicz, who successfully defended her Master's thesis on August 17th, 2017. Jackie presented her research entitled "Analysis of high and low physical functioning breast cancer survivors within two years of treatment". Great job, Jackie!

Jackie is continuing on in her studies in the DIESEL lab as a PhD student. Her research focus will continue to be centered around breast cancer survivors and physical function post treatment.

Members of DIESEL will be travelling to the Ontario Biomechanics Conference (OBC) at the Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston, Ontario on March 10-12th to present some of their recent research to fellow biomechanics undergraduate and graduate students. Now in it's 14th year, OBC is organized to provide an opportunity for Ontario biomechanics students to network and present their work in a casual and nurturing environment.

Congratulations to Carmen Liang for successfully proposing her Masters (MSc) thesis topic on Wednesday, June 29th. Carmen is focusing on manual matering handling (MMH) tasks, and how they are designed for workers across all body types. She hopes that her research will help to quantify shoulder strategies for workers of all body compositions, as well as inform future MMH task design.

Jackie successfully proposed her Masters (MSc) thesis on Wednesday, June 15th. Her topic is focusing on breast cancer survivors who have completed treatment but are experiencing shoulder pain and dysfunction. Over the next year, Jackie hopes to quantify some of that dysfunction with her research and inform future rehabilitation strategies for this population.
