Events

Beyond the trails and gardens, rare is home to many research projects investigating the different habitats and species.  The rare Research Forum which will showcase a variety of research projects happening on our land. We will learn about the growing tall-grass prairie, predation of wasps on tree crickets, ecological restoration of meadows, and hear from many others about what their research is uncovering at rare. Refreshments will be offered.

The Water Institute Research Symposium of 2013 will showcase the breadth of Waterloo's water research programs, focusing on areas of particular interest to our external partners and stakeholders. The symposium is an excellent opportunity to interact with our researchers and students.

Research Symposium 2013 will be immediately followed by our annual Distinguished Lecture, Student Poster Competition and Reception.

Ecohydrology hosts session at Goldschmidt conference in 2013

Philippe Van Cappellen and Ana Lima of the Ecohydrology research group along with Pasi Peltola will be hosting a session in the Hydrogeochemistry theme at the Goldschmidt conference in 2013. The title of the session is Urban Biogeochemistry. Hope to see you there!

Surface Chemistry of Environmentally-Important Organoarsenic Compounds With Iron (Oxyhydr)oxides Studied by ATR-FTIR, DFT Calculations, and Surface Complexation Modeling

The 2nd International Summit on Water Environmental Management will be held November 27th, 2017 in Nanjing, China. The Summit will bring together international audiences from academia, government, and industry and will serve as a forum for participants to exchange insights and generate knowledge on sustainable water management and promote international technology cooperation in water.

Dr. Philippe Van Cappellen will present a keynote lecture titled: "Evolving Concepts in Integrated Water Management - Environmental Indicators, Ecosystem Services and Environmental Flows".

Biogeochemical Cycling of Nutrient Silicon in a Human-Impacted Large Lake Nearshore Environment (Hamilton Harbour Area of Concern, Lake Ontario, Canada)

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana from December 11th to 15th, 2017. Ecohydrology Group researchers, Geertje Pronk, Fereidoun Rezanezhad and Philippe Van Cappellen, organized a session titled “Integrative Approaches to Advance Understanding of Soil and Sediment Biogeochemical Functioning”.

Dr John Pomeroy will provide an update on the Global Water Futures (GWF) Program, since its inception on September 6, 2016 and its future plans for national and international engagements

Dr. John Pomeroy, Director of the Global Water Futures (GWF) program, will be giving a presentation about GWF. This information session is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about GWF and the latest program activities.
