2nd International Summit on Water Environment Management

The 2nd International Summit on Water Environmental Management will be held November 27th, 2017 in Nanjing, China. The Summit will bring together international audiences from academia, government, and industry and will serve as a forum for participants to exchange insights and generate knowledge on sustainable water management and promote international technology cooperation in water.

Dr. Philippe Van Cappellen will present a keynote lecture titled: "Evolving Concepts in Integrated Water Management - Environmental Indicators, Ecosystem Services and Environmental Flows".

AGU Fall Meeting 2017

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana from December 11th to 15th, 2017. Ecohydrology Group researchers, Geertje Pronk, Fereidoun Rezanezhad and Philippe Van Cappellen, organized a session titled “Integrative Approaches to Advance Understanding of Soil and Sediment Biogeochemical Functioning”.

1st International Conference on Water Security

The 1st International Conference on Water Security will be held in Toronto, Ontario. The conference complements the launch of Elsevier's new journal on Water Security

Themes and topics:

  • How do water governance, institutions, aging infrastructure and finance come together to achieve water security in the developed world?
  • The science of integrated water management (smart watersheds, water services, agricultural, energy, minerals and other use systems, environmental flows, legacies, collaborative governance, BMPs)
  • Climate, renewable energy, economic development and demographic change and migration: challenges or opportunities for regional water security. Water security and conflict (either transboundary water cooperation or armed conflict and water)

The 61st Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research, will be held at the University of Toronto Scarborough, Ontario from June 18-22, 2018. The theme for 2018 is Great Science for Tomorrow’s Solutions.

Abstract submissions for both oral and poster presentations are welcome. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is January 19, 2018. View the Call for Abstracts for details.

Proposed sessions chaired by University of Waterloo researchers:

Professor Jun Xia, of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chair Professor and Director of The Research Institute for Water Security atWuhan University, will present "Addressing Urban Hydrological Issues: An Integrated Water Systems Approach", as part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture series
