Instructions

Please review the 2026 EV Challenge Rules for race procedures and vehicle safety requirements.

Cars should be registered using a car number, usually 2 digits, that is selected by the team at registration. Refer to the 2025 Race Results page to see a list of car numbers that have been previously used by other teams. In case of a conflict where two teams select the same car number, the competition organizers will ask one team to change.

Car Information
Year when car was first raced
Starting in 2026 schools will be limited to bringing one car to the competition. This car will participate in one of two heat races in the morning, and cars that qualify will be entered in the feature race in the afternoon. Teams must use the same car for the heat race and feature race; switching cars between races is not permitted.
Acknowledgements
I have reviewed the design and construction of the vehicle(s) that we will be racing at the Waterloo EV Challenge and confirm that all requirements in the Safety Inspection Checklist provided in the 2026 Rules have been met.
I take all responsibility for the construction of the vehicle(s) that my students are entering into this competition. I acknowledge that the race organizers are not responsible for vehicle safety, as the strength of welded or riveted joints is difficult to visually assess during a safety inspection.
My school is not affiliated with an Ontario high school. This can include college teams, community teams or teams from outside the province. A certificate of insurance is required in this case - please contact the race organizers for details.
I confirm that my team has sufficient drives for the races that we have registered for, according to the rules. A minimum of two drivers must be registered for each race. To qualify for the feature race, teams must have at least 4 drivers, 2 for the heat race and 2 other drivers for the feature. If a team doesn’t have sufficient drivers, they will not be allowed to participate in the feature race, regardless of their finishing order in the heat race.
