Welcome to the University of Waterloo's programs in English Language and Literature, and to your role as a teaching assistant or independent graduate instructor. English is as known for its exceptional teaching as it is for its research, and your work as a TA or independent graduate instructor is important to the department’s students and faculty, and to your own development as a teacher and scholar.
As an instructor, you will receive plenty of support. In addition to our fall teaching orientation for all graduate students who will be TAs and independent instructors, we offer workshops throughout the year on specific teaching topics. Your course coordinator will provide guidance, and you can draw on a number of other faculty, staff, and peer resources if you have any questions or want to talk about your teaching.
