Your teaching file is a record of your teaching activity while you are in the department. The file gives administrators, supervisors, and potential referees a comprehensive picture of your participation and work as an instructor. You, your course leads, and the TA or GI coordinator all participate in the construction of your file. It contains the following information:
- A list of all the courses for which you’ve been a TA or GI.
- TA or GA Evaluations completed by your coordinator.
- A record of your attendance at course-related meetings.
- A record of your attendance at any departmental teaching-related meetings or teaching workshops given during the year.
- A list of any teaching-related workshops or courses you take outside of the department, such as the Centre for Extended Learning’s Online TA Preceptor Training Course or the Centre for Teaching Excellence’s Fundamentals of University Teaching or Certificate in University Teaching. Make sure to notify the TA Coordinator about any workshops or courses you complete so they can be recorded.
- Notes from class visits or online assessments by your course coordinator or teaching coordinator.
