In his research activities in SERS, Ian Rowlands investigates issues related to sustainable energy (and SDG7 – ‘Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all’). Much of this work focuses upon politics, policies, strategies, behaviour, actors, regimes, and/or institutions at multiple levels (the household ‘up to’ the global). Ways in which global climate change and energy intersect is another set of interests of Ian’s.
Ian has conducted research over the past 8 years related to his time as the University of Waterloo’s Associate Vice-President, International. Strategic partnerships, equitable partnerships, sustainability, evaluation processes, and virtual internationalization in international higher education were amongst his interests in this part of his work.
