ESS Services - for you

Every undergraduate student in the Faculty of Environment contributes $17.50 each term to the Environment Students' Society. This contribution allows us to provide many useful services to you and our faculty. You can visit our office in Environment 1 (EV1) 138A during office hours (10:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday) with any questions about classes or campus or if you just want to chat.

Our Services

Locker Rentals

ESS has a variety of full- and half-size lockers available for rental in the EV1, EV2, and EV3 buildings. If you have any questions, feel free to visit us in our office or email vpoperations.ess@uwaterloo.ca.

  • Lockers run on a deposit system ($20), which will be returned to you at the end of the term if your locker is clean, empty, and in good condition. Please pay in cash in our office.
  • Starting January 2020, ESS will now be providing locks for all lockers. These locks have resettable combinations, so you can choose your combination at the beginning of the term. Only ESS-provided locks can be used on our lockers.
  • Please note that lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you want to book a locker, fill out our form here.

Disclaimer: The renter agrees that the Environment Students' Society is not responsible for any items stored within lockers and will not be held responsible for any losses or damages. The renter further agrees that payment is required in full in order to rent the locker for one academic term, otherwise the contents within the locker are subject to immediate removal. Finally, the renter agrees to vacate the locker by the last day of classes for that term. Any items within the locker are subject to immediate removal if the renter fails to vacate the locker by this date.

Board Game Rentals

If you would like to rent a board game for an event or just for fun, you must provide your WatCard and it will be returned upon you returning the board game. You will not be able to rent any other board games until you return any previous ones. Those who damage board games will have their renting privileges revoked. Email vpoperations.ess@uwaterloo.ca to rent our board games.

ES Lounge Booking

If you would like to book the ES Lounge or an ES table, please fill out this form. Your request will be brought to the ESS council and if all members agree, you will be granted permission and we will reserve the lounge for you. You and your party are responsible for returning everything to its original condition.

Advertising in Environment Buildings

Organizations or student clubs wishing to post notices, advertisements or other types of posters in EV1, EV2 and EV3 must abide by our poster policy (PDF), or risk revoking poster privileges. If you want to display any posters, please fill out the form here. Any questions or concerns regarding posters can be directed to the VP of Operations at vpoperations.ess@uwaterloo.ca.

Organizations wishing to post notices, advertisements or other information on the ESS social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, website), please email the Communications director at communications.ess@uwaterloo.ca.

For the TV Screens in the EV1 and EV3 atriums, please contact Environment Communications.
