Bystander Intervention Training for Staff and Faculty

Wednesday, November 12, 2025 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Monique Chambers, Senior Training Specialist from the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-R) and Stacey Jacobs, Education Coordinator, Sexual & Gender-based Violence Prevention from the Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) are collaborating to bring Active Bystander Intervention Training to staff and faculty.

Join in person to learn practical skills and access resources to safely step in when you witness harmful behaviour, including racism, sexual violence, and other forms of harm. Together, we can create a campus culture grounded in consent, care, belonging, and respect.

Using an equity-focused lens, this training will help you:

  1. Using an Equity focused lens, the objectives of this training are to:
  2. Understand and define microaggressions, harassment and harm.
  3. Recognize the complex roots of these normalized oppressions.
  4. Identify personal obstacles and barriers to intervening safely and effectively.
  5. Learn how to safely and effectively apply the 5D Active Bystander Model.
  6. Recognize that everyone has a role in creating a safe and anti-oppressive campus.
