The University of Waterloo’s Department of Civil Engineering is your destination for a graduate student experience that will yield benefits long after graduation. 

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in Civil Engineering is a coursework-based degree option, which may be completed on a part-time or full-time basis. If you are registered full-time, you can normally complete the degree in three to four terms. This is a self-funded degree option; therefore, you will not be provided with funding or be assigned a supervisor.

Admission requirements

  • An Honours Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a 75% standing.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score (only for those applicants who completed their degree outside of Canada or United States).
    • GRE is waived as a requirement for Fall 2024, Winter 2025 and Spring 2025 admission cycles
