2026 International Medical Geography Symposium (IMGS)

Sunday, July 12, 2026 - Friday, July 17, 2026 (all day)

We are pleased to announce the 2026 International Medical Geography Symposium (IMGS), themed Geographies of Wellbeing: Environments, Transitions, and the Futures of Societal Wellbeing. The symposium will take place at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Co-hosted by the University of Toronto Mississauga, University of Toronto St. George, University of Toronto Scarborough, Toronto Metropolitan University, and Ontario Tech University, IMGS 2026 responds to a rapidly changing and uncertain world. This year’s symposium will explore how transitions, understood as complex multidimensional processes unfolding across time and space, shape and influence societal wellbeing.

The program will be organized around four key themes:

  • Equity and justice transitions
  • Societal and environmental futures
  • Conceptual and theoretical transformations
  • Methodological innovation, intersectoral research, and emerging directions

IMGS 2026 aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and meaningful exchange among scholars, researchers, trainees, and practitioners. Together, we will rethink, reimagine, and advance approaches in health and medical geography.

Registration and abstract submission are now open.
We look forward to seeing you there!
