Elizabeth Ochola was one of 9 WHO/TDR grantees exploring ways of increasing the number of women in science in Africa. The TDR is a global programme of scientific collaboration that helps facilitate, support and influence efforts to combat diseases of poverty. It is hosted at the World Health Organization (WHO), and is sponsored by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and WHO.

As the article outlines, Elizabeth "is building on the government of Kenya’s commitment to address gender inequality and helping to support young women to develop research careers."
