The Geographies of Health in Place (GOHelP) Lab is pleased to announce that two of its members have been awarded prestigious SSHRC doctoral-level funding through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
These awards mark an important milestone in Canadian research funding, particularly as this is the first year that international PhD students are eligible to apply to Canada’s national granting councils. The recognition highlights the strength and diversity of emerging scholars within the GOHelP Lab and their contributions to advancing critical health geography research.
Cynthia Musah has been awarded a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship. This achievement reflects both her scholarly excellence and the significance of this year’s expanded eligibility criteria. As part of this landmark cohort, her award represents an important step forward in broadening access to national research funding opportunities for international doctoral researchers in Canada.
Yuki Yeung has received the SSHRC Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Doctoral (CGRS-D), supporting her doctoral research on climate change and health. Her work focuses on the central idea that climate change represents both one of the most pressing public health challenges and one of the most important opportunities for action in the 21st century.
Both awards underscore the GOHelP Lab’s commitment to supporting innovative, interdisciplinary, and impactful research at the intersection of health, environment, and society. Their work continues to advance understanding of pressing global and community health challenges.
The GOHelP Lab congratulates Cynthia and Yuki on these outstanding achievements and looks forward to their continued contributions to research, teaching, and engagement.
