Professor Jennifer Dean was recently awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Development Grant for her project  “Immigrant settlement in rural and remote communities: Exploring access to the social determinants of health”. This project will examine the health impacts of federal and provincial policies that promote changing immigrant settlement patterns into rural and remote communities in Ontario. The study will launch in Fall 2019.

PhD student Samantha Biglieri was awarded a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship to continue her exploration of planning dementia-friendly communities with a new focus on diverse immigrant populations in Toronto suburbs. She will begin working with Roger Keil at York University in January 2020.

Congratulations Jennifer and Sam!
