Wellbeing, Space and Society Receives First Impact Factor: A Milestone for Wellbeing Research
In 2019, Susan Elliott proposed the creation of a groundbreaking journal to Elsevier—one that would offer researchers a dedicated platform to explore and publish work in the emerging field of wellbeing research. This included studies on how to theorize, conceptualize, and measure wellbeing. In 2020, this vision became a reality with the launch of Wellbeing, Space and Society, co-founded by Susan Elliott and Jamie Pearce from the University of Edinburgh.
On June 20, 2024, the journal achieved a significant milestone: it received its first Impact Factor of 2.4. Wellbeing, Space and Society is now ranked in two key subject categories. In the Public, Environmental, and Occupational Health category, the journal is placed in Q2, with a Journal Impact Factor (JIF) percentile of 59.7%. It holds a rank of 163 out of 403 journals in this category, which saw a significant increase in the number of journals from 180 in 2023 to 403 in 2024 due to Clarivate's merging of categories and the inclusion of new titles.
The journal also ranks in the Geography category, where it is placed in Q2, with a JIF percentile of 75.1%, securing a rank of 43 out of 171 journals. This is an exciting development for researchers in the field of wellbeing, marking an important step in advancing this vital area of study!
