George Atiim completed a Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management under the supervision of Professor Susan Elliott. His thesis employed qualitative methods to explore health risk perceptions around the emerging global problem of food allergies in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to this, George completed a Master of Philosophy and Bachelor of Arts in geography and resource management at University of Ghana. His master's degree explored the factors influencing utilization of HIV voluntary counselling and testing services in Ghana’s Upper East region.
George was a research awardee with the Food, Environment and Health Division at the International Development Research Centre in Ottawa where he provided administrative support to the program, and was undertaking research into the drivers of unhealthy diets in urban and rural populations in Ghana.
George is now a Global Health Researcher at the United Nations University, International Institute for Global Health where he contributes to building conceptual clarity and approaches in gender and health that promotes gender equality in health programming.
