Samantha is a current PhD student studying under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Dean. Her research interests are focused at the intersection of active transportation, social connectivity, and social inclusion. She is a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s School of Planning with a bachelor’s in environmental studies. She also completed a Master of Research in Interdisciplinary Urban Design from the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. In her past research endeavors, she has focused on improving older adult social health through e-bicycling, built-form indicators of walkability in mid-sized cities, and measuring the social value of walking. In addition to her academic experience, she has worked professionally as an urban planner in both the public and private sectors, with a focus in transportation planning.
