TBio Pic of Tyler Hamptonyler (he/him) is a PhD student in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. He is a student in the Collaborative Water Program and serves as chair of the Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section. His research concerns the protection of drinking water supplies in Canada’s forests through sustainable forest management. Part of the larger NSERC forWater Network, his role is in modelling forest ecosystems and hydrology to determine the effects of different forest harvesting strategies, as well as how wildfire affects water quality. Tyler recently received the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship for this work. Tyler aims to continue his activities from past student government involvement in improving accessibility and availability of student mental health services; fostering community and increased financial stability for international graduate students; and serving as an advocate for graduate students to institutions and government.
