Mary and Walter Hougham shared a compelling interest in education and peace studies. They valued accessibility to education and wanted to encourage students to be involved in community building through the Peace and Conflict Studies program at Grebel.
This program is based at the University of Waterloo and has inspired hundreds of students to improve the quality of life for our society.
This award was set up in recognition of Mary and Walter's passion for peacemaking and commitment to making our community and the world more humane.
About the Award

and Walter’s passion for peacemaking and commitment to making our community and the
world more humane.
This award was established to provide financial support for students studying PACS at Conrad Grebel University College who have demonstrated financial need.
The award is given to:
- Students enrolled in the PACS program at Grebel.
- Students who qualify for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) funding.
- Students who demonstrate involvement in and commitment to the PACS program.
Amount: Up to three awards of approximately $1,500.
