Kitchener's Dan Chapman talks about the City's Open Government Initiative

Talk for current MPS students - As part of the Open Government Initiative, the City of Kitchener aims to increase public participation and accountability in municipal politics and activities. Dan Chapman, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Financial and Corporate Services, will give a 30-45 minute presentation on the initiative followed by a Q&A session about city politics, working in government and career options.

Congratulations to our newly elected MPSA: Julian Greer, President; Emmanuel Dowuona , Vice President; Mathura Karunanithy, Director of Academic Affairs; Diedre Beintema, Director of Administration; Shiffat Ahmed, Director of Finance; and Colin Boland, Director of Social Affairs. We look forward to a great year of them building a strong community among all MPSers.

Lunch n' Learn: Working for the Municipal Government

Discussion Panel for new MPS students - Meet three MPSers who are working in municipal government. You'll hear from Tracy Suerich, the Program Coordinator for City of Waterloo's Waterloo Public Square; Jeff Bunn, the Committee Coordinator for the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury's Legislative Services; and Rajbir Sian, Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Waterloo. All three are looking forward to telling you what it's like, what they do, and how to be competitive for municipal positions.

Workshop for new MPS students - Facilitated by Jen Woodside, Career Advisor in Waterloo's Centre for Career Action, this workshop teaches you how to successfully prepare yourself for your upcoming co-op interviews. This workshop will be followed by a complimentary lunch in the Project Room.
