MEF Funding Application for Professional Development and Projects is Open!
Are you a mathematics student at the University of Waterloo with a great idea or a professional development opportunity on the horizon? The Math Endowment Fund (MEF) is excited to announce that our funding application for professional development and projects is now open!
What is MEF?
The Mathematics Endowment Fund (MEF) is an income-generating fund that exists to finance projects that are in the best interests of undergraduate math students at the University of Waterloo.
We provide funding for a wide range of activities, including:
- Professional Development: publication fees, activities delivered in an online format, conference accommodation, travel, and registration; and other initiatives that benefit the career of an individual student.
- Projects: A project is any request for funding that involves a group of people or an operation that is not done for an individual's professional development.
Who Can Apply?
All undergraduate mathematics students at the University of Waterloo are eligible to apply for MEF funding. Whether you're looking to attend a conference, host a workshop, develop a new tool, or embark on a research project, we want to hear from you!
How to Apply
- Prepare Your Proposal: Clearly outline your project or professional development opportunity. Include details about the objectives, expected outcomes, and how it will benefit the mathematics community. The form can be found on this website.
- Budget: Provide a detailed budget, including all anticipated expenses and any other sources of funding.
- Submit Your Application: Complete the MEF funding application form available on our website. Be sure to submit all required documents and information.

- the Project funding form will open on October 20. All applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM Eastern time on October 31.
