Research by PhD student Brok Laschowski was featured in a keynote talk by Jensen Huang, the President and CEO of NVIDIA. His PhD research focuses on modelling the visual information processing neural networks in the brain using deep learning. These brain-inspired algorithms are used for environment-adaptive control of robotic systems.
For more information, see his latest journal paper "Environment classification for robotic leg prostheses and exoskeletons using deep convolutional neural networks" published in the Frontiers in Neurorobotics.
This study was in collaboration with PhD student William McNally and Dr. Alexander Wong, Canada Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, and supervised by Dr. John McPhee, Canada Research Chair in Biomechatronic System Dynamics.
