Congrats to Avery and Kevin for making it through your departmental seminars. Well done gents, and now it's time to get back in the lab.

Two new students have joined the group. Ms. Islam Jameel is a new M.Sc. student, and Ms. Shafa Rizwan is an NSREC USRA intern. Both of them work on new reactions mediated by HVI reactions.
Welcome to the group!
Every year at the UWaterloo's Science Open House, we have a chemistry show with lots of fire, colour changes, smoke and explosions. This year, Tristan, Avery, Kevin and Leanne all participated, and it was quite a show.
Tristan has been working on using Wittig reagents as precursors to metallocarbenes. This paper has been accepted to Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry for their upcoming themed issue on Carbenes in Synthesis.
Congrats Tristan, and thanks for all the hard work.
Our newest work, concerning the oxidative alkene arylation using an iodoarene catalyst is accepted for publication.
Congrats to Zhao and Liam on your work.
The weather held on just long enough to have the "annual" group party. Both current and former group members got together for an afternoon of pizza, pool and water fights with the group's mascot.
Thanks you all for coming and making it a great afternoon.
Kevin and Avery have joined the lab for their M.Sc. studies.
Welcome to the group!
As part of a University of Bordeaux / UWaterloo collaboration, Graham and Tristan went to Bordeaux for a research exchange in the Quideau Lab. Lots of new developments in iodonium ylide chemistry were achieved, making us excited about new ideas.
It was a great way to end the summer!
The end of summer saw Lilian and Cicely finish their work terms in the group, and they are now back to school.
Zhao's postdoctoral position also came to an end, and he's off to Florida for his next PDF.
Thank you very much to all of you for your hard work and dedication in the lab. It is truly appreciated.
Best of luck in your continued studies!
Jasmin's latest paper on oxidative halogenation of secondary phosphine oxides is accepted in Tetrahedron Lett.
Congratulations Jasmin, and thanks for all the hard work.
