By Staff Communications and Public AffairsConrad Grebel University College will celebrate its 50th anniversary this weekend with the largest reunion in its history. Events run from Friday August 23 until Sunday August 25 with everything from a 1960’s alumni brunch to a talent show and sporting activities.
Conrad Grebel is affiliated with the University of Waterloo and is situated on its campus. While everyone who lives and studies at Conrad Grebel graduates from the University of Waterloo, students here are able to lay an Anabaptist/Christian template to their studies. Winfield Fretz, Conrad Grebel’s first president, dreamed of establishing a college as a community. The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
