Many of Canada’s top climate researchers are meeting at the University of Waterloo and the Balsillie School of International Affairs to help craft strategies that Canada can take to the upcoming round of United Nations climate negotiations. More than 60 experts are part of this collaboration, called Sustainable Canada Dialogues (SCD).

Professor Sarah Burch, a climate change researcher at Waterloo and SCD collaborator, is available to discuss the conference and ways in which governments and organizations at every level can help Canada successfully achieve transition to a low-carbon society.

"Conversations about the responsibility and capacity to act on climate change promise to play a significant role in the upcoming federal election. These are the most crucial international climate change negotiations this decade," said Professor Burch. "Rather than laying blame or focusing on impending calamity, the ultimate purpose of this process is to create a compelling vision of a resilient, low-carbon Canada that can be reached with existing technologies and policies that we know to be effective."
