By Media RelationsUniversity of Waterloo Professor Veronica Kitchen is available to speak about the bombings in Boston on April 15.
Professor Veronica Kitchen of the Department of Political Science and the Balsillie School of International Affairs researches domestic security, focusing on urban security, mega-event security and counter-terrorism.
"Analysts are getting better at connecting the dots, but sometimes there is no clear information beforehand, or there is so much information that it's not easy to find the right intelligence and to connect it to a specific attack," said Professor Kitchen. "It's not clear that more security would have prevented an event like this."
Professor Kitchen is available for print, online and radio interviews.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
