WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, November 21, 2013) – The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, will inform with University of Waterloo students how they can use Open Data and spur innovation in the first national Open Data hackathon in Canada.

Minister Clement will be on the Waterloo campus on Friday to explain the challenge.

The Canadian Open Data Experience, or CODE, allows students to test their hardcore coding skills to develop applications using federal government data in a 48-hour race against the clock. In partnership with XMG Studio Inc., the top 15 CODE teams will participate in the Great Canadian Appathon 4 (CGA4) and will be granted access to the exclusive CODE HUB in Toronto, where they can connect with participants and mentors from the Canadian tech industry.
