The installation of The Rev. Wendy Fletcher as principal and vice-chancellor of Renison University College at the University of Waterloo will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13 at the Church of the Holy Saviour, Waterloo.

The new principal joins Renison from the Vancouver School of Theology, where she has served in a number of capacities as professor, academic dean, dean, vice-principal and, for a period of seven years, as principal.  

In addition to the role of principal, Professor Fletcher will also be taking on the position of director of international and inter-cultural development.  The purpose of this new position is to promote strategic directions that will develop the capacity of Renison's programs to meet the needs of language and cultural studies of both the College's and the University's growing numbers of students either from abroad or intending to work or study abroad.

Professor Fletcher’s areas of specialization include the intersection of culture and Christianity in the 20th century, the history of colonization and its impact on Canadian First nations, and the decline of Christianity in the North American culture.

As an experienced administrator, Professor Fletcher comes with a strong reputation for managing in a style that is characterized by open communication, collaborative relationships, and an emphasis on team building.

Renison University College was founded by the Anglican community and is affiliated with the University of Waterloo.  It offers degree programs in social work and the social sciences as well as other courses in languages, humanities, and culture. Almost 1,000 students are enrolled in programs and 220 Renison and Waterloo students call it their home.
