Nearly 40 teams of children ranging in ages from nine to 14 will compete with robots they created at the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Ontario West Championships at the University of Waterloo tomorrow.

All teams have been working on their own LEGO MINDSTORMS® robots to accomplish trash-themed missions to find ways to create less garbage, or improve the way we deal with it. Challenges include sorting trash, placing items in a composter, collecting methane from the landfill, and cleaning up plastic bags from a beach.

The event is open to the public. Admission is free.

Date: Saturday, January 30, 2016

Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
