Students, faculty and staff from the University of Waterloo will be out in force to bring that Friday feeling to Waterloo today with a sweep of events for Random Act of Kindness Day®.
The University is partnering with the Federation of Students and The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation to engage citizens in small acts of kindness and generosity to build a stronger community.
“The University of Waterloo is proud to partner with our Federation of Students and The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation in celebrating the Waterloo region’s Random Act of Kindness Day®,” said Robert Crow, vice-president, university relations at the Waterloo. “We’re committed to promoting to the values of inclusiveness, equity, and wellness, and ‘RAK’ is an excellent way to do that right across the Waterloo region community. By performing small but thoughtful acts for one another, we’re making the Waterloo region a better place to call home one kindness at a time.”
The University of Waterloo is involved in more than twenty planned activities to celebrate the day, known for it’s “pay it forward” motto.

Location: Luther Village Retirement Home
Time: 9:00 a.m.
Description: A Kindness Krew from UWaterloo will share their kind smiles, along with smiley face cards drawn by elementary school students, with local Retirement Home residents.
Location: Stratford Campus, 125 St Patrick St, Stratford, ON
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Description: Donate your gently used winter wear to those in need and spread the warmth and kindness this season.
Location: Student Life Centre, Great Hall

- Kindness TV – Share your kindness story with the world on Kindness TV! Your big screen debut will be aired at www.feds.ca/kindnesstv
- Kindness Trees – Share your kindness stories and display them in on one of our Kindness Trees.
- Kindness Kandy Gram – did you get a Kindness Kandy Gram? You can claim your sweet treat in the SLC Great Hall between 11:00am – 2:00pm on Random Act of Kindness Day.
- The Game of Kindness - Spin the Wheel of Kindness to take away a fun kindness giveaway.
- Feds Booth – Meet members of the Feds Executive and the Feds Diversity Education Team and walk away with a puzzling prize.

Activation Description: Visit the SSO Kindness Krew in SCH and share some kind karma by filling out your gratitude card.
Location: PAC, SLC and BMH Green
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Activation Description: Run into a roaming King Warrior on campus and grab some cool kindness gear and a photo together.
Location: Brubakers, Student Life Centre
Time: 11:30 a.mn. – 1:30 p.m.* (*until supplies last)
Activation Description: Swing by Brubakers for lunch and take advantage of some free treats you’re your Food Services team, courtesy of Kellogg’s and Tony the Tiger.
Location: Up Town Waterloo
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.* (*until supplies last)
Description: Catch our Kindness Krew in UpTown Waterloo Square and grab some kindness candy and a spirited high-five. Krew includes some of our Warrior varsity athletes.
Location: MacGregor Albert Neighborhood, Waterloo
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Description: Kindness Krews will disperse to help local residents with fall maintenance of their front-lawns and general community clean up.
