Murray Alzheimer Research and Education Program (MAREP) at the University of Waterloo will host a free public lecture and panel discussion tomorrow. January is Alzheimer Awareness Month
By Media RelationsProfessor Elaine Wiersma, a leading Alzheimer expert from Lakehead University, will share examples of how individuals living with dementia are successfully managing the disease. She will present new research that challenges assumptions about the abilities of those diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.
Following the lecture, two individuals living with dementia will join experts and community care providers to talk about their day-to-day experiences with it. The afternoon will conclude with the presentation of the Kenneth Murray Partnership in Dementia Award.
