Have a student coming to Waterloo?
Throughout the summer and fall months, the Student Success Office hosts events to help you and your student with their transition to university life. If you're unable to attend one of our sessions, visit our family resources page.
Faculty 101 Days
Faculty 101 days are free, one-day programs held throughout July to provide students and their families with the information they need to have a successful first year at Waterloo. Learn more on the 101 Days website.
International Orientation - Parent and Family
Learn about what your student will be experiencing in their first-year as an international student in Canada and how you can best support them at International Orientation - Parent and Family. You'll hear from staff members from several departments in the panel discussion. In the evening, you and your student are invited to a warm welcome from the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waterloo, Feridun Hamdullahpur. There will be food and non-alcoholic drinks served at this informal, standing-room-only event.
First-Year Parent and Family Orientation
Attend Parent and Family Orientation on your student's move-in day to learn about what to expect as a parent of a first-year student and the resources available.
First-Year Orientation Family Send-off
Meet other parents and students, as well as university administrators, at this celebratory Family Send-off event.
If you’re looking for useful tips and strategies for supporting your student’s transition into university life, join one of our Parent Orientation sessions. No registration is required.
