NRCan recently completed a national-scale assessment of earthquake risk, and this talk will summarize the project context, inputs and assessment methods, findings, and implications for disaster risk reduction. The economic and life-safety risks Canadians face from earthquakes will be highlighted, including a framework that combines physical and social vulnerability factors to identify the jurisdictions most at risk from earthquakes nationally.
You will also learn about RiskProfiler.ca—a new platform aimed at building resiliency to seismic risk through planning and emergency management actions.
