    1. Partners for Action: Preparedness of Fifteen Canadian Cities to Limit Flood Damage

      In 2015, we interviewed 15 large cities across Canada, to assess their readiness for a flood event. Canadian cities were strong in:

      • residential backwater valve installation in new homes
      • flood plain mapping

    1. Partners for Action: Priorities for Advancing Flood Resiliency in Canada

      In 2014 interviews, stakeholders identified three winning conditions that would help reduce the risk of flood.

      • Canadians must understand the risk that flooding presents to their homes, businesses, and communities;
      • Canadian decision-makers must use their understanding of flood risk to make sound adaptation decisions; and,
      • Canadians must have options to transfer flood risks that remain after they have put adaptation strategies in place.
