GO Abroad: Learning for Sustainability (GOALS) is a 15-week study abroad experience that integrates language learning with a deep exploration of global sustainability themes. Designed for those eager to engage with real-world issues, this interdisciplinary program builds essential 21st-century skills—critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and collaborative communication—through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
You will strengthen your academic and professional language proficiency while investigating how SDGs are being addressed in both Canadian and global contexts. Themes focus on key sustainability topics, supported by authentic materials, discussions, and interactive tasks that foster meaningful language use.
Working in project teams, you will apply design thinking to co-create innovative solutions to global challenges. Through this process, you will develop adaptability, leadership, and intercultural competence - skills essential for becoming globally minded citizens and effective communicators in a rapidly changing world. By the end of the program, you will also have the ability to articulate your skill development for future professional or academic interviews.
