Maria is currently pursuing her BASc in Architectural Engineering at the University of Waterloo, a program that allows her to combine her love for buildings with her passion for science. Upon completing three previous co op terms; one with Jewell Engineering, and two with PCL Toronto, she was excited to step out of the construction industry and into the world of research. Maria is currently completing a co-op term as a research assistant under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Lacroix and Dr. Kunho Eugene Kim, investigating the effect of fiber reinforced polymers and shape memory alloys as reinforcement methods for timber members. In her free time, you can find Maria either at a rock climbing gym or out on a hike.
