Yannick Vetter
Yannick holds a B.Eng in Civil Engineering from Carleton University. As an undergraduate student, he completed a co-op placement working for Dufferin Construction. Through this experience, he was exposed to the benefits of sustainable practices as it relates to the building industry which ultimately led him to pursue a master’s degree.
Yannick started his M.A.Sc. in the Fall 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Lacroix. Motivated by the increase of mass timber in construction, his research focuses on the development of retrofitting techniques for structural members subjected to blast loads and strengthening schemes for the adaptive reuse of existing and future structures. Fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) are going to be used as reinforcement. These high performing materials work in conjunction with the wood fibres to help bridge common defects and improves the flexural performance of the material. His commitment to innovative approaches that promote environmental sustainability is what drives his interest in studying the behaviour of timber structures.
