My current research interests are in the areas of cognitive robotics, natural human-machine interaction, autonomous and intelligent systems, and voice and media concept extraction. Methodological approaches are based on my research in the fields of autonomous design of complex systems, approximate reasoning, soft computing and tools of operational artificial intelligence. Applications include cognitive assistive robotics, virtual care using AI, intelligent information retrieval and concept extraction from multimedia archives, real-time distributed systems and multiagent control, and advanced man-machine interaction with multi-sensing capabilities.
I have been involved in a variety of research projects, some are of theoretical nature, while others are applied and oriented towards real-world applications with an industrial flavour. My research work has led to a number of theoretical findings and inventions in my fields of expertise spanning the following areas:
- Operational artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Predictive analytics with application to virtual care
- Multi-sensor data fusion
- Cognitive robotics and autonomous machines
- Smart mobility and big data analytics
- Concept extraction and natural speech understanding
The research output is disseminated in journals, conference proceedings, and textbooks. Some research output has been translated into Intellectual Property (US Patents), part of which has been successfully commercialized.
