“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” - Beverly Sills

Hello, my name is Pooriya, and I am a graduate of the mechanical and mechatronics engineering program at the University of Waterloo. During my time at the university, I was enrolled in the MASc program and worked as a member of the MagLev laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Khamesee. As part of my research, I developed a magnetic actuator that was funded by The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). This device uses electromagnetic force and torque to provide wireless, reliable, and accurate control over a robot, also called an agent, in micro/milli scale inside the human body. The actuator has potential medical applications such as drug delivery or Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). Utilizing electromagnetic mechatronic systems, classical control principles, and machine learning techniques, I developed a prototype with 13-micrometer position control accuracy.

Aside from my academic work, I have also taken on volunteer positions to develop my leadership and teamwork skills. I have held the position of President (2021 Team) and Vice President Communications (2020 Team) of the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Graduate Association (MMEGA). In addition, I was selected as Vice-Treasurer of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) of Waterloo Chapter(2020 Team)

My Top 5 Qualifications are:

Specialist in modeling systems, equipment selection, and project planning in a fast-paced environment to meet defined schedules and deadlines.

Working familiarity with control theory, forward and inverse kinematics, motor and drive control, path planning, Q-learning.
Expert in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Genetic Programming to develop regression and classification models.
Specialist in CAD management with Design, Draft, test setup development, and Analysis experience with hands-on skills.
Practical in mechanical and mechatronics simulation packages (FEA, CFD, MATLAB, Simulink, SolidWorks, CATIA. Maplesoft, Adams) and programming in Python (Numpy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Pandas, Matplotlib)
