Mayor Dave Jaworsky joins the University of Waterloo Alternate Fuels Team (UWAFT)
University of Waterloo Alternative Fuels Team (UWAFT) ribbon cutting ceremony officially marked a major milestone for heir car being drive-able. UWAFT invited the Mayor of Waterloo, Dave Jaworsky, as someone who helps to influence environmental issues and other policies in the government towards sustainable transportation.
UWAFT is taking part in an Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition (AVTC) called EcoCAR3 a 4 year long competition which they are in the third year. It has been a very exciting year for UWAFT with all the challenges and long hours of work.
EcoCAR3 objectives are to redesign a 2016 Chevy Camaro to maintain performance, reduce emissions, maintain safety and maintain consumer acceptability.
UWAFT's redesign involved converting the Camaro into a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and using Parallel Split Hybrid architecture.
