In progress

To embed equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racims (EDI-R) within departments and harmonize equity and anti-racism efforts across campus the EDI-R Office created a “spoke and wheel” program called PALs. The program is intended to build EDI-R competencies and skills across the institution through trained program area leads (PALs). The EDI-R Office partnered with the Centre for Extended Learning’s Agile Development Team to develop EDI-R micro-credential training, comprised of 30 hours of customized learning. Thirty-three leaders have been identified for the initial pilot of this program, across faculties and academic support units. Outcomes expected from this program include individual and department reports of increased capacity in equity and anti-racism, and progress toward operationalizing over thirty identified EDI-R projects.

Moving forward: PALs launched in June 2022. Through 2022-2023 each PAL will identify a systemic project; using the PALs program resources and tools, each member will work toward operationalizing their initiative, as well as explore opportunities for custom training delivery in their department, faculty, or academic support unit.
