C.W. McLeish Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship for Excellence in Probability

Award description: 

Two scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, will be awarded annually to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in Year Two, Three or Four in the Faculty of Mathematics with preference given to students enrolled in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. The successful recipients will have the highest grades in Probability courses at the University of Waterloo. This fund was created in memory of Charles William McLeish (1915-1987), a pioneer in Radiometry and Interferometry at the National Research Council of Canada.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 
  • one intermediate (2nd or 3rd Year) and one senior (4th Year) award
  • For intermediate award, students must have completed STAT 230 or STAT 240 in the first two years of their program
  • For senior award, selection will based on the top grade in STAT 333
