Award description: 

An award, valued at $3,000, is awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student entering Year One in the School of Optometry in the Faculty of Science on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated financial need. This fund was made possible through a gift from the estate of Dr. Reed Dawkins, a Waterloo Optometry graduate from the Class of 1972.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 
  • full-time undergraduate students entering Year One in the School of Optometry in the Faculty of Science
  • restricted to Ontario residents (as defined by OSAP), with demonstrated financial need (based on UW full-time bursary program need assessment)
  • selection to be based on academic achievement (minimum 80% average)
