A scholarship, valued at up to $5,000, will be awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in Year Two, Three, or Four of any program the Faculty of Engineering (excluding the School of Architecture). Selection is based on academic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average) combined with extracurricular or volunteer activities and a statement describing the impact this award will have on their ability to pursue their educational goals. Preference will be given to students who are part of the first generation in their family to attend post-secondary education. Interested students should submit an application by October 1. This scholarship was established by Ryan (BASc ’04 SYDE) and Patricia Sandor to celebrate his parents, Miklos and Shanti Sandor, who were immigrants and the first in their families to attend post-secondary education and whose dedication to earn UWaterloo degrees through distance education was an inspiration.
