Robert A. Fern Memorial Award

Award description: 

One award, valued at up to $400, may be presented to a senior undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies who has made a significant contribution in either volunteer work with persons with disabilities or applied research which has relevance to the lives of persons with disabilities.  Interested third-year and fourth-year undergraduates and graduate students are invited to apply. This award honours the memory of Robert A. Fern, an employee of Parks Canada and the Department of Canadian Heritage, who was recognized world wide as a leader in advancing accessibility and participation by persons with disabilities in all aspects of society.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 
  • minimum 75% overall average
  • students who have made a significant contribution in either volunteer work with persons with disabilities or in applied research which has relevance to the lives of persons with disabilities
