Award description: 

This $1,500 award will be presented annually to a student entering fourth year of the Mathematics Teaching Option who has demonstrated academic excellence with an affinity for teaching and a love of mathematical problem solving. The recipient is selected by the Director of the Math/Teaching Option and the Associate Dean, External Relations. This award honours the memory of Professor Ronald Scoins who made outstanding contributions to mathematics and mathematics education as a teacher of mathematics at both the secondary and university levels, as an instructor of mathematics teachers through service to GVMA, OAME, NCTM and other mathematics associations as well as through the writing of textbooks.
