Sachania-Kyniski Future Leader in Pharmacy Award

Award description: 

Two awards, valued at $2,000 each, will be provided annually to full-time undergraduate students entering Year One of the PharmD program in the School of Pharmacy. The award is restricted to students who have a demonstrated financial need as determined by Waterloo. Selection is based on academic excellence (minimum 80% admission average) combined with demonstrated leadership in extracurricular and/or volunteer activities. To be considered, students must submit the University of Waterloo Full-Time Bursary application along with a letter (maximum two pages) describing their eligibility. Eligible students will be invited to apply. This fund is made possible by a donation from the Peel Pharmacists Association, to honour their long-standing coordinators, Ramnik Sachania and Ron Kyniski. Their commitment to education, mentorship, and leadership has had a lasting impact on pharmacy students and professionals alike.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 
  • entering Year One in the School of Pharmacy
  • Restricted to Ontario residents (as defined by OSAP), with demonstrated financial need (based on UW full-time bursary program need assessment).
  • Selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum 80% admission average) and demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities and/or volunteer activities.
  • Students must complete a two-page (maximum) letter outlining the extracurricular and/or volunteer leadership experience, as part of their full-time bursary application.
