Should I use a Windows or Mac computer for school?
Both Windows and Mac computers are suitable for university school work. For optimal Wi-Fi connectivity, we recommend that you have a Wi-Fi adapter that supports 802.11AC or Wi-Fi 6.
Where should I store my files?
University of Waterloo students get 5TB of cloud storage with OneDrive - you can access your files from any device, share files with others, and save storage space on your computer! Log in with your UW credentials at http://portal.office.com/ to access the OneDrive app using your browser or download the OneDrive desktop app.
Why am I not getting emails from my professor(s)?
Your professors send emails to your 'email@example.com' email address. Make sure you are checking your school email, not your external non-UW email. Log in to your UW email at http://portal.office.com/ and click on the Outlook icon to access Outlook Web App. You can also download all Office 365 applications by clicking 'Install Office' in the top-right of the Office Portal homepage.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your University accounts by verifying your identity using a mobile device.
