This year’s theme foregrounds the interactions between historical figures and events and the memorialization of those actions and reactions. As historians, engaging in conflict and cooperation is a pillar of historical research and the processes that create the subject matter for our research.

Keynote speaker

Our keynote speaker this year is Dr. Mikki Brock of Washington and Lee University who specializes in demonology, witchcraft, and religious beliefs and identities in Early Modern Scotland. The title for her talk is, “‘That horrid and devilish sin’: Witchcraft and memory in Covenanted Scotland."
