Established by the Deer Ridge Charitable Foundation to reflect its concern for the youth of the Region of Waterloo, one or more awards are available each year to full-time students entering the University of Waterloo from a secondary school in the Region of Waterloo. To be eligible, candidates must have lived in the Region of Waterloo for at least ten years, demonstrate academic excellence, and financial need. Participation in extracurricular activities in the school and community may also be a consideration.

- resident of Region of Waterloo for a minimum of ten years
- academic performance
- financial need (based on Entrance Bursary assessment)
- participation in extracurricular activities
- Complete the Entrance Bursary application.
- You can find the application on the Awards and financial aid tab in the Waterloo application portal.
- Access to the form is limited to Ontario students who will be studying on a full-time basis and who are applying to post-secondary studies for the first time.
- Additional eligibility criteria can be found on the application form.
- The Entrance Bursary application is open from February 1 to April 15.
